Thanks to everyone who helped make the annual Comedy Night a record-breaking success. The event was sold out, in large part, because of this year’s headliner, Billy Gardell of Mike and Molly fame. Our sincere thanks to comedian and Laff Spot Owner Don Learned who lines up the comedians every year for Comedy Night. Learned is a close friend of Gardell and asked him to perform.
In addition to tickets sales, thousands and thousands more dollars were raised by raffles and the live auction. A big thank you goes out to Fred Davis of Sports Radio 610 for serving as bid caller for the auction. Davis did a great job helping to raise a lot of money for the CCEMS Scholarship and Education Fund which helps educate the EMTs and Paramedics of the future.
Comedy Night 2018 opened up with something new that will be featured in this year’s St. Patrick’s Parade. Recently, the Cypress Creek EMS Honor Guard has added bagpipes. It just so happened that CCEMS Supervisor and Honor Guard Member Joseph Wells plays the pipes. Earlier this year he attended a bagpipe academy at the Georgetown Fire Department. Look for Joseph with the Honor Guard at the front of the 1960 Parade on Sunday, March 11.
Here’s a little sample of Joseph Wells on the pipes.
Billy Gardell was just hysterical. Folks in this packed house laughed until tears rolled out of their eyes. Gardell could not have been more gracious pausing to shake hands and take pictures and selfies with fans.
